Our Story

It started with a cat who stopped drinking.

Her name was Olive. She was twelve, gray around the muzzle, and one summer she just… quit her water bowl. What we learned next changed everything.

Olive, the cat who started it all.

The vet bill that broke us open.

Olive had early kidney disease. The vet said the words every cat parent dreads — chronic, progressive, manageable if she drinks enough water. But she wouldn't. Not from her ceramic bowl. Not from the filtered fountain we bought, the one with the noisy pump and the cartridges that smelled like a fish tank after two weeks.

We tried five different fountains in eight months. They all had the same problem: they recycled the same water through a filter, over and over, until it grew a film. Olive knew. Cats always know.

The lightbulb moment

Why was every fountain on the market trying to filter dirty water instead of just replacing it? We didn't drink filtered week-old water. Why was Olive supposed to?

Two years, 47 prototypes, one stubborn cat.

We sketched the first Feline Flow on a paper napkin: a sealed clean tank up top, a stainless steel bowl in the middle, a waste tank below. No filter. No pump. Just gravity, a timer, and the simple idea that old water should leave before new water arrives.

We made it out of plastic first. Olive turned her nose up. We made it out of glass. It cracked. We made it out of stainless steel — surgical-grade, the kind they use in vet clinics — and the next morning, for the first time in months, Olive drank.

Her bloodwork improved at her next check-up. The vet asked what we'd changed.

What we believe.

  • Cats are obligate water-shy creatures. The water has to come to them — and it has to be clean, every time.
  • Filters are a workaround, not a solution. They hide the problem; they don't fix it.
  • Plastic gets scummy. Stainless steel doesn't. Your cat can tell.
  • A water fountain shouldn't be a monthly subscription to replacement parts.

Where we are now.

Olive turned sixteen this year. She's slower, sleepier, and still picky about everything — except her water. More than 10,000 cat parents have switched to Feline Flow since we started shipping. Many of them write to tell us their cats are drinking again. A few send vet reports.

We read every single one.

Give your cat the water Olive finally drank.

Free shipping. 30-day returns. No filters to ever buy again.
